Palisades Collection – How to Remove Them Off Your Credit Report
“How to Free Yourself from The Palisades Collection Account Agency and Repair Your Credit Score”

Hello there! My Name is Jesse and My Credit Was Ruined by The Palisades Collection Agency - But I Got Them Removed.
-My True Story Will Reveal Who Palisades Is, Why They’re After You, and How to Get Rid of Them
A few years ago, I suddenly found myself in the clutches of The Palisades Account Collection Agency. At first I had no idea what was going on or why they were trying to collect over $15,000 from me.
Soon, however, I figured out that the source of the debt was an unsettled auto loan. I had been disputing this loan account with the original creditor, and I thought that everything was under control. I was just waiting to hear back from the creditor about some of the things we’d discussed.
Little did I know, the auto loan creditor had sold my account to Palisades! He didn’t even bother to inform me. All of a sudden I was getting piles of mail from Palisades, plus daily calls from “Roger,” the Palisades bill collector personally assigned to torture me. “Roger” was impossible to talk to.
He called CONSTANTLY and was rude and insulting. I felt like there was no hope of negotiating with Palisades, and I was afraid that I would just have to sit by and watch helplessly as Palisades completely trashed my credit rating and ruined my financial life.
When I looked at my credit reports from Experian and Transunion, I saw that Palisades collection items were already appearing on my report. They were popping up everywhere like a disgusting rash on my previously clean credit history. Looking at those credit reports, I just had a terrible feeling of hopelessness.
At the time, I was out of work and actively seeking new employment. I knew that this awful credit report was going to make the difficult process of finding a job in this economy even more challenging. I’m sure many potential employers ran credit checks on me, saw my collections charges, and decided not to offer me a job. It’s pretty common practice for employers to do this.
I tried to reason with “Roger,” the Palisades collection agent. I argued that if Palisades continued to damage my credit report, making it impossible for me to get a new job, I couldn’t be expected to pay off my debts.
“Roger” didn’t seem to care. He refused to work with me or come to any sort of compromise. My debt grew and grew as Palisades Collection piled on more interest and fees. Soon my credit score had dropped nearly 100 points.
At this point, I started doing some research about Palisades Collections LLC. Who the heck were these guys, and why were they so dead set on ruining my life?
I discovered that Palisades specializes in collecting delinquent auto loans, cell phone contracts, and credit card bills. They purchase the delinquent accounts for pennies on the dollar from the original creditors. Because Palisades owns the debts, they get to keep anything and everything that they can get you to pay.
None of the money will go back to the original creditor! Instead, everything is profit for them. Talk about greedy!
For a debt collection agency like Palisades, my situation was virtually no risk and all reward. For pennies on the dollar, they had the chance to get $15,000 from me. All they had to do was harass me until I cracked and paid up.
I also learned that account reps like “Roger” are paid on commission. It’s not in their interest to negotiate with you, remove interest fees, or lower the debt owed, because doing so would lower their commission. Instead of being nice, reasonable people, bill collectors do everything in their power to harass you and basically be jerks.
I was actually grateful to be out of work at the moment, because if I had been employed, good old “Roger” would probably have called my employer looking for me.
I can’t think of anything more humiliating than having my personal life and financial troubles brought up in my professional work environment.
In the course of my research about Palisades Collection, I found a few helpful tips for how to deal with people like “Roger”.
First of all, you should never try to make friends with the bill collector assigned to your case. It’s important to keep things professional, because your credit score and your reputation are at stake. Besides, there’s nothing to gain from being friends with the bill collector.
You have virtually no chance of appealing to their emotions, gaining their sympathy, or swaying them from their goal in any way. Bill collectors are immune to this sort of tactic. They have to be, or else they couldn’t do the sort of work that they do.
Next, you need to keep in control of the situation. Don’t be sucked in by small talk. You don’t need to be polite to the Palisades bill collector! You should always be civil, but you don’t need to stay on the phone with them out of politeness. Instead, recognize that their chitchat is solely intended to keep you on the phone, waste your time, and generally annoy you until you pay.
Remember, your time is valuable. Don’t let the bill collectors take your time AND your good credit away from you. Hanging up on “Roger” was difficult at first, but I soon learned to do it politely but firmly.
Lastly, if you must negotiate with Palisades, the only thing you should ask for is that they REMOVE their collection items from your credit history. If collection items are not removed, they can damage your credit for up to seven years! So it’s important to be firm that removal of the collection items is the only solution you will accept.
When you make your demand for the deletion of the collection items, you must do it in writing so there is a permanent record of it. Hiring a credit repair attorney to write your correspondence will vastly increase your chances of getting your demands met and the bad debt removed.
After doing all this research about Palisades, I realized that I needed professional help in order to deal with them. By this time, I was so demoralized by my dealings with “Roger” and Palisades that I wasn’t optimistic about the situation at all. I was afraid I was beyond help. However, I also figured that I had nothing to lose. My credit was already down 100 points and my whole future was at stake. I had to at least try!
I decided to hire Lexington Law to dispute the collections charges and help me repair my credit. From their website, I could tell that they had extensive experience dealing with Palisades Collection on behalf of their clients.
For example, the website said that Lexington Law had successfully removed 1,748 Palisades credit items from client credit reports. And that was just in Q2 of 2008! Lexington Law averages 582 Palisades collection item deletions per month. That’s 19 deletions per day! With a track record like that, I began to feel like Lexington Law could help me too.
